Face Symmetry

Description

This is something of a tutorial.

Been stuggling with facial symmentry. Tried the mirror and the grid and the flipping of the drawing on the lightbox. All of which seem time consuming and frustrating.

So, what I've done above is:

1. Draw the face.
2. Scan the face.
3. Copy half the face.
4. Paste and flip the half.
5. Align with corresponding side of face.
6. Repeat with other side of face.

Viola. Now, amazingly, there are two completely different looking faces. Both very odd looking, but good for tracing on the lightbox and getting symmetry without all the frustration.

Another way is to simply draw half of a face and do the same as above.

After lightboxing, I go ahead and throw down a sheet of grid paper, use the mirror, and flip the drawing as I continue the drawing. But this is far less frustrating after using the symmetrical printout.

I found some good free downloadable grids online to print. Just google 'grid'.
